Fashion Re-Do #11

**For the entire month of January, I’m going to be  re-doing outfits I’ve previously worn that just didn’t really work.  I’ll be sticking with the main theme of the outfit fail, but trying new pieces or combinations to take a failed outfit into a favorite outfit.**

Okay people, the original today, wow, it is probably the worst of the worst.  I CAN’T believe I posted this.  It honestly looks like I put ZERO effort into this look(other than my makeup which looks nice).  My hair is awful, the outfit is blah and just ugh.

The concept of this outfit was to take what used to be my go-to look before the blog(black skirt, black cardigan and colored top) and re-vamp it…but clearly I was way off the mark.

For the re-do, I switched the green cardigan for a green pencil skirt with a black button up and cardigan.  Definite improvement(though basically anything would’ve been an improvement over the original).

Last night, hubby and I actually left our house and went into town(this is RARE) to look for a chair for my sewing room.  We also ate dinner at Moe’s(did you know they have grass fed beef??? amazing!) because it’s very easy to customize a paleo friendly meal there….meat+veggies+guacamole…yummy!

Anyways, we found a chair at Haverty’s in the clearance section for 50% off it’s original price.  It’s a parsons chair(exactly what I wanted) upholstered in a beautiful linen fabric.  It fits perfectly with the room.  After our amazing furniture find, we headed to Jo-Ann’s to see if we could get some fabric to make an upholstered bench for the room along with some coordinating pillows.

We got the deal of the CENTURY at Jo-Ann’s last night, let me tell you.  First off, all decorator fabric was 60%.  We chose two different fabrics(one to cover the bench and make a pillow for the chair, and one to make pillows for the bench).  The bench fabric was originally $45.99/yard….The pillow fabric was on clearance and since it was at the end of the bolt, we got an addition 70%.  The pillow forms were all 50% and the brads we bought for decoration were also 50% off with a coupon.  When we got to the checkout, they were having an additional sale of save now, save later where you received 30% off your total purchase, with a card to save an additional 30% in the future.  In short, our entire order was $80.  The full price of everything would have totaled well over $250.

We were able to get a chair and materials to cover the bench and make pillows for the same amount as the chair’s original price.  And we’re going to have some beautiful custom pieces.

This room is going to be epic.  I can’t wait to show you the finished product!!!!!

Thank you!! It’s been pretty fun to be doing these re-dos(though I do cringe a bit at the originals) and to try to come up with new ways to make the same outfit work better the second time around.
